On Saturday 5th April Hednesford Town make their second journey of the season to Wythenshawe in Manchester when they visit the Baguley area of the town to play Wythenshawe Town after travelling to the Gatley area earlier in the season where they beat Wythenshawe FC 2-0 thanks to second half goals from Akheem Rose and Jack Bearne.
Wythenshawe Town sit in 19th place in the Northern Premier League West Division with 43 points from 37 games, eight points clear of rivals Wythenshawe FC (who they play on Easter Monday) but one point behind Kidsgrove Athletic and safety. Of those 43 points, 25 have come on their travels from six wins, seven draws and six defeats. One of those draws came at Keys Park back in November when Chinedu Uche’s 29th minute opener for the visitors was cancelled out by Manny Duku’s equaliser five minutes from time. At home they have won just four (1-0 v Avro, 4-2 v Bootle, 4-1 v Witton Albion and 2-1 v Chasetown), drawn six and lost eight. Despite their lowly position they have a goal difference of +1, the only team in the bottom half of the table with a positive GD. They are in 20th position in the form guide with three points from their last six games, all draws while Hednesford are still in first place despite the 0-1 reversal against Trafford last Saturday with 15 points from six games. Wythenshawe Town’s leading scorer is former Burnley striker George Boyd who has 14 league goals and three in the FA Cup and he is followed by Chinedu Uche with seven in the league and three in the FA Cup. Their average attendance so far this season is 267 with the highest being 353 against Atherton Collieries although they did get 431 through the turnstiles for the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round game against Farsley Celtic.
The Pitmen slipped to third place in the league table last week after Vauxhall Motors late winner at Clitheroe and Simeon Maye will serve a one game ban for his red card last weekend. Dom McHale will be available after limping off while Akheem Rose faces a late fitness test as they look to get back to winning ways after their 14 game unbeaten run in the league came to an end.
Wythenshawe Town play at Ericstan Stadium, Timpson Road, Manchester M23 9LL. The ground has a capacity of 1,500 with 133 seats and features a clubhouse which opened in 2009. Limited parking is available and anyone who parks at the ground must enter their car registration number into the tablet in the clubhouse to avoid a parking fine. Alternatively, there is three hours free parking at Tesco, a short walk from the ground or street parking on the estate near the Jolly Butcher pub. Admission is £10 adults, £6 concessions and £2 U16s, cash or card and kick off will be at 3pm.
On Sunday 6th April Hednesford Town Ladies have a home league game against Walsall Wood who they beat 9-0 a couple of weeks ago. Admission is £3 adults and £1 concessions for a 2pm kick off.
