Emirates FA Cup 3QR REPLAY: Billericay Town v Hednesford Town
Today, Hednesford Town will be on the road again when they travel 150 miles to Essex where they will play Billericay Town in a Third Qualifying Round Emirates FA Cup replay after Saturday’s game at Keys Park ended goal-less. The winners know that they face another long journey in the Fourth Qualifying Round away at National League North Spennymoor. This will be only the second time that Hednesford have played at Billericay after a 0-0 draw in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the same competition in the 2000/01 season in front of a crowd of 721.
Both teams dropped a place in their respective leagues following Saturdays games. Hednesford slipped to third as Stockton Town moved above them after a 2-2 draw at home to Bamber Bridge in a game where they had led 2-0 while Billericay dropped to 16th in the Isthmian Premier League after Dartford beat Cheshunt 2-0. The Pitmen have 20 points from their 10 league games and The Blues have nine from eight.
In their three home league games this season Billericay have won one (2-1 against Wingate & Finchley), drawn one (2-2 against Ramsgate) and lost one (0-1 against Cray Wanderers) but have beaten Barton Rovers 4-1 and Berkhamsted 3-0 in the FA Cup. Away from home they’ve won one, drawn two and lost two. Their leading scorers all have three goals, Liam Nash who has scored all three in the league and Ryan Scott and Frankie Merrifield who have one each in the league and two in the FA Cup.
Pitmen Manager Gavin Hurren said” It was a frustrating day on Saturday, but we look forward to going there on Tuesday and putting out a team to hopefully get the win”.
Billericay Town play at New Lodge, Blunts Wall Road, Billericay Essex CM12 9SA. The club moved there in 1970 and completely redeveloped the stadium in 2017. Covered terraces were built at both ends of the ground covering the full width of the pitch and a new seated stand built next to the clubhouse with the seating on the other side of the ground extended to cover the full length of the pitch, raising the capacity to 5,000, 2,000 seated. Their record crowd is 4,582 for a friendly against West Ham while their average attendance this season is 835.
Reduced admission prices apply on Tuesday night of £10 adults, £7 concessions, £3 12-17 and £1 11 and under. Tickets can be bought on-line via the Billericay website or by card only on the gate.
