THE PITMEN
It was the perfect Easter for Hednesford Town as they followed up Good Friday’s 3-0 win over Prescot Cables with a dramatic late 2-1 victory at title rivals FC United of Manchester on Easter Monday. That win moved The Pitmen above their opponents level on points with Hebburn Town, both teams having 70 points from 37 games and Hednesford second only by goal difference. FC United are in third with 68 points from 36 games and learned this week that their oft-postponed game against Stockton Town is to be played on a neutral ground at Curzon Ashton on April 21st. The win also ensured that Hednesford are guaranteed at the least, a play-off place this season. Hednesford have an excellent record at Keys Park in 2025/26. In the league they have won 12, drawn five and lost just once to Stockton Town back in October, scoring 30 goals and conceding only nine. Manager Kelvin Davis also has a 100% league record at home, winning all three of his games in charge with his team scoring eight goals without reply.
THE OPPOSITION
Morpeth Town are in 19th place in the NPL Premier League table with 39 points from 37 games, Things are tight at the bottom though with The Highwaymen being a point behind Workington and Hyde and two adrift of Rushall Olympic and Whitby who are in 15th position. The majority of their points have come at home where they have picked up nine wins and three draws but have lost on seven occasions. From their 18 away games they have won just twice, at Bamber Bridge and Whitby, drawn three against Stocksbridge Park Steels, Warrington Town and FC United and lost 13 times. Their leading scorer is Nic Bollado. The ex FCUM man has eight goals to go with the 12 he scored last season and he is followed by Will Dowling and Luke Jones who have five each in all competitions.
