Pitmen Cooke up first summer signing

We are delighted to announce Jamie Cooke has agreed terms to join the club from Halifax Town FC.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder heads to Keys Park with National League experience, Wembley pedigree and a clear hunger to be part of the next stage of the club’s journey.

Jamie came through the youth system at Fleetwood Town before later moving to Colne. He joined Halifax Town in 2021 and also gained senior experience during loan spells with FC United of Manchester, Matlock Town and Curzon Ashton.

During his time at The Shay, Jamie became part of a Halifax side competing in the level above the Pitmen’s new division. He also produced one of the standout moments of his career at Wembley in May 2023, scoring the winning goal as Halifax beat Gateshead 1-0 to lift the FA Trophy.

Director of Football Andrew Reed said: “As everyone knows, we have a big rebuild on our hands this summer, and there has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes.

“We’re delighted to kick that rebuild off with Jamie. He is the first new face through the door, but there are plenty more conversations ongoing and we expect more talented players to follow in the days and weeks ahead.

“The important thing for us is getting the balance right. We’re not just signing players for the sake of it. We are looking closely at the profiles we need in each position, the way Kelvin and Danny want the team to play, and the characters we want in the dressing room.

“Jamie brings quality, experience and hunger, and just as importantly, he is the right type of person for what we are building here.”

Manager Kelvin Davis added: “Jamie is someone we have kept our eye on for a couple of years now, so we’re really pleased to bring him to Hednesford.

“He is a talented player who can operate in a number of attacking positions, and he brings great energy to the team.

“Character is a massive part of our recruitment strategy, and Jamie’s keenness to play for Hednesford was key in our decision making. He wanted to be part of what we are building here, and that is exactly the type of attitude we want in the group.”

Jamie Cooke said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to sign for Hednesford Town. It is an amazing club and I’m really excited to get going.

“The club is going in one direction, and that is up. I want to be part of that, help the team push for promotion and ultimately get into the National League.

“I’m looking to bring energy, hard work, goals and assists. The main thing is that we are all working together and giving 110 per cent every game.

“The fan base here is massive. Seeing the support the players got in the play-offs was unbelievable, and playing in front of that support is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Jamie becomes the first new face through the door this summer, with more squad updates to follow as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign.

Welcome to Keys Park, Jamie.
