Match Preview | Lichfield City Women vs Hednesford Town Women

THE GAME

Lichfield City Women vs Hednesford Town Women

West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League

Lichfield City Stadium, Brownsfield Road, Lichfield, WS13 6BX

Sunday 6th September 2026, kick off 2pm

HEDNESFORD TOWN WOMEN

Back-to-back wins were secured in last week’s game, after a convincing 3-1 scoreline over Solihull Moors.

Despite conceding first after a corner was put away by Gallagher, Hednesford equalised before the break thanks to an impressive effort from Marsha Malik.

The second-half once again proved dominant from the women with goals from Mill Rogers, after a great ball into the box, and new signing Janelle Straker slotting one home to put the game out of reach.

This leaves Hednesford top of the table after three games with some teams just behind with a game in hand.

THE OPPOSITION

Lichfield City Women are yet to pick up any points in their first three league games after securing promotion last season, but their games certainly don’t lack any goals.

First two matchdays saw a 1-2 defeat to Coundon Court Ladies and a 5-2 away loss to Shifnal Town FC Ladies.

Last week Stourbridge Women put four past the opposition despite having to come back from a goal down twice as an early lead from Lichfield courtesy of Taylor-Maxwell and the second from Dilger left a 2-1 scoreline after 53 minutes.

However, a late flurry of goals, including a brace from Arnold, meant a convincing 2-4 win for Stourbridge leaves the opposition searching for their first points of the season.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS

As Lichfield earnt promotion from Division One North last season, the teams haven’t encountered each other since the 2024-25 season when Hednesford took the title and promotion to the premier division themselves.

During this season back-to-back games saw and away win of 1-2 and home victory of 4-1 for Hednesford Town.
