Match Preview | Hednesford Town vs Brackley Town

THE GAME

Hednesford Town v Brackley Town

Enterprise National League North

Keys Park Stadium, Keys Park Road, Hednesford, WS12 2DZ

Saturday 17th October 2026, kick off 3pm.

THE PITMEN

Hednesford go into the game on the back of two successive wins, 4-1 at home to Radcliffe and 1-0 away to then league leaders Hereford where Aaron Jarvis’ second goal of the season was enough to bring back all three points and give The Pitmen their first back-to-back wins of 2026/27.

The Hednesford squad will be bolstered by the return of Omari Sterling-James and Lenni Cirino from international duty, but keeper Sam Hornby was injured in the warm-up at Hereford and had to be replaced by on-loan Will Murdock who went on to make two tremendous saves in the game.

Hednesford have won two of their five home games so far this season, drawing one and losing two. They are in 12th place in the table with 15 points from 11 games having scored 18 goals, a total only bettered by three other teams.

Jamie Cooke leads the way on the goalscoring chart with four followed by Ahkeem Rose with three.

Manager Kelvin Davis said ahead of the game, “We have spoken from the beginning of the season about consistency and our recent results need to be a platform for us to keep improving.”

THE OPPOSITION

Brackley sit in 16th place in the league table also with 15 points from 11 games, but have a GD of -7.

Of those 11 games, six have come at St James Park where they have won three, drawn two and lost just one. Away from home they have picked up only one win, on the opening day of the season, 2-1 at AFC Telford.

They have also drawn once, 2-2 at Chorley and lost three times. Those defeats came at Macclesfield where they went 2-1 down after having two men red carded and two heavy defeats at Buxton and Morecambe where they lost 5-0 and 3-0 respectively.

In September, Andy Whing resigned as Manager after the Morecambe defeat and was replaced by club legend Gareth Dean with Joe Taylor and James Armson as his assistants.

In the five games since the new men took charge, Brackley have won three games, drawn one and lost one.

The Saints leading scorers are Tahvon Campbell and Josh Tomlinson who have three league goals each. Also in the squad will be Charlie Cooper, the son of former Hednesford midfielder Mark who made 24 appearances for The Pitmen in 2000/01, scoring four goals.
