We marked the end of the season with a friendly fixture at Keys Park on Friday 8th May, as club staff and representatives from club partners took on Staffordshire Football Therapy.
The match took place ahead of the summer pitch renovation works, giving players the opportunity to enjoy the Keys Park surface one final time following a memorable campaign.
The afternoon also helped raise awareness around mental health, with a donation made to a local mental health charity.
Staffordshire Football Therapy was founded in 2023 and provides football sessions across Rugeley, Lichfield and Penkridge, offering a welcoming environment focused on fitness, football and positive mental wellbeing.
Ross Walker, Chairman of Staffordshire Football Therapy, said: “To bring the lads to Keys Park for a game like this was fantastic, not only for the football, but for what it represents.
“Raising awareness of mental health and encouraging men to look after themselves and each other is what we are about, so we are really grateful to Hednesford Town for welcoming us.”
Rob Slater, Business Development & Operations Officer, added: “It was great to host the game at Keys Park before the close season works begin.
“Football has an important role to play in the heart of the community and in bringing people together. We were pleased to give Staffordshire Football Therapy the opportunity to play at Keys Park after having numerous conversations throughout the season about how we could support them.
“We would like to thank everybody who took part and helped make it a fantastic afternoon.”
Thanks also to Matt Langman for capturing photos from the game.
