On Tuesday 4th February Hednesford Town will take another journey to the Manchester area when they travel to Wythenshawe for their latest Northern Premier League West game which was originally postponed on Saturday 11th January.
Wythenshawe are currently in the relegation zone in 20th place with 30 points from 29 games. They have picked up 14 points from 15 home matches so far this season, winning three, drawing five and losing seven of those matches, tasting defeat against City of Liverpool (1-4), Mossley (1-2), Chasetown (0-3), Vauxhall Motors (0-2), Widnes (1-2), Wythenshawe Town (0-2) when they saw their biggest home crowd of the season for “El Civico”, 1,204 and last Saturday against Clitheroe when despite taking a two goal lead they went down 2-3. Away from home they have 16 points from 14 games from five wins, eight defeats and a draw at Keys Park back in October when Ryan Tioffo earned his side a point after an Alaistair Brown own goal had given Hednesford a second minute lead. Wythenshawe’s leading scorers are Darrhyl Mason who has seven and Abdullahi Ahmed who has six followed by Michael Phenix on four.
Hednesford moved back into the Play-Off places following their 2-1 win over Witton Albion at the weekend, a game which saw latest signing Nathan Blissett score on his debut. Gavin Hurren said that Tuesday’s game will be “another tough game and we will have to win our personal battles, apply ourselves and as a minimum, work hard.” Jake Jervis, Jack Rose and Rob Stevenson remain out, but Joe Doyle-Charles will be available after serving a one game ban. Elliott Johnson, Dan Sparkes and Omar Holness will again face late fitness tests.
Wythenshawe play at Hollyedge Park Community Stadium, Altrincham Road, Sharston, Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester M22 4US. They have been there since 2017, and the ground has a capacity of 1,500 while their record attendance came on Boxing Day 2023 when 1,450 saw another derby against Wythenshawe Town. Their average attendance this season is 428. The club are currently on their third manager of the season following James Kinsey’s resignation on Wednesday 8th January. He had only been in charge since January 3rd after taking over from Shane Goldrick who stepped down on 27th December. The new man in charge is Danny Moss who has two wins and two defeats from his games in charge so far.
Admission is £10 adults, £6 concessions, £5 16-19 and students while under 16s accompanied by an adult are free.
