Newcastle Town were the visitors to Keys Park as third placed Hednesford Town looked to stretch their unbeaten run to 13 matches. Dominic McHale had a busy start for Hednesford Town, finding himself in on goal in the 3rd minute only to be penalised for a handball, before shooting narrowly wide following a great run. However the visitors took the lead against the run of play, breaking away from a Pitmen corner and scoring through Oliver Armstrong in the 15th minute. In reply Dan Trickett-Smith saw an inviting cross claimed by Joe Slinn and a turn and shot from McHale went wide. It looked like the visitors would take their lead into the halftime but in stoppage time Trickett-Smith slammed the ball home from close range to equalise just before the break.

The second half got off to a great start for the Pitmen, McHale flicked the ball on for Jack Bearne who was able to tap home at the far post to give the home side a deserved lead. Just after the goal Pitmen keeper Tony Breeden was called upon to make a fantastic save from Oliver Ritchie. Slinn made a great one handed save at the other end to deny McHale the goal that his overall performance deserved. The Pitmen defence took control of the game and it looked unlikely that Newcastle would be able to find an equaliser. The game was killed off in the 89th minute when Joe Doyle-Charles took advantage of a mix-up in the Newcastle defence and swept home a third, decisive goal.
