Hednesford Town travelled to Coleshill Town in the Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round, the tie had added interest with former Pitmen manager Harry Harris now in charge at Coleshill and several former Pitmen players, Dan Gyasi, Jack Hallahan and Adam McGurk amongst the home side.
The game could not have got off to a better start for the visitors, when Dan Turner broke through the Coleshill defence and sent his shot past Cameron Belford to put the Pitmen into a second minute lead. Akheem Rose doubled the lead inside four minutes, running in from the right and finding the net with a sharp finish. A stunned Coleshill tried to find their way back into the game, Harry Sweeney sent a freekick over the bar, Tony Breeden was forced to punch away a corner, while Cody Mullan should have done better with a dangerous cross. However, it would be the Pitmen adding to the scoreline with a further three goals in a three-minute spell. Firstly, Turner combined well with Rose who found the bottom corner of the net with a decisive strike. A minute later a cross came in from the left and Dom McHale was on hand to apply a finish before Jonny Edwards joined in the goal spree, shooting past Belford in the 23rd minute. The Pitmen continued their attacking play forcing Belford into making a good save from Chris Hussey’s corner. Rose had a chance to claim his third with a shot going close just before the half time break.

The second half was always going to be a quieter affair than the first, Gavin Hurren used the scoreline to give some minutes to other players, with Kieron Freeman and Elliott Johnson replacing Hussey and Jamie Morgan at half time. A long throw from Coleshill was cleared off the line by Ryan Wynter, before a dangerous cross from Gyasi was cleared by the Pitmen defence. The Pitmen continued to dominate the game and added a sixth goal as Rose claimed his hat-trick rifling the ball home from Freeman’s corner. An injury to substitute Nathan Blissett meant that the Pitmen finished the game with ten men after using all of their replacements earlier on. However, the numerical disadvantage did not seem to affect the game, with Jake Jervis supplying a cross from the left which teed up the prolific Rose to bag his fourth goal of the afternoon. A clinical display in every position of the field sent the Pitmen through to the next round with an incredible 7-0 win.
