On Saturday 1st November it’s another away day for Hednesford Town, their fifth in six games, when they travel up to Yorkshire to play Guiseley AFC in the latest round of Northern Premier League Premier Division fixtures.
Both teams are not in the best of form. Hednesford have lost four of their last six games in all competitions, drawing two while Guiseley have lost their last five in league and cup including a midweek defeat at Harrogate Railway Athletic in the West Riding County Cup when a much changed side lost 1-5. Hednesford’s first home defeat on Tuesday to Stockton Town saw them slip out of the play-off places into sixth with 21 points from 13 games while Guiseley who haven’t played a league game since October 18th are in the relegation zone in 19th place with 14 points from 14 games. The majority of those points have come at home. Away they have won only once, 2-0 at Hyde United along with a goalless draw at Lancaster City to go with four defeats while at home they have won three, drawn one and lost three. The wins came against Hebburn (4-0), Prescot Cables (3-1) and Morpeth (3-1) with a 1-1 draw with Stocksbridge Park Steels. The defeats have been 0-1 versus Rushall Olympic, 0-1 to Warrington Rylands and 1-4 against Ilkeston. Their leading scorer is Jordan Thewlis who has six league goals including a hattrick against Hebburn. On 12th October the club parted company with manager Mark Bower and his assistant Danny Boshell, Liam Ridehalgh taking interim charge until a new manager is appointed. Stocksbridge Park Steels manager Ian Richards was named as Guiseley’s new boss on Thursday but will take a watching brief on Saturday.
Hednesford’s last visit to Guiseley was back in 2014/15 in the Vanarama Conference North when The Pitmen came away with a 2-0 win thanks to an own goal and a debut goal from Adam Thomas. In the previous season Hednesford had also won, this time 2-1 with goals from Neil Harvey and Elliott Durrell.
Guiseley play their home games at Nethermoor, Otley Road, Guiseley, Leeds LS20 8BT which has a capacity of 4,021. Their average this season is 634 with 1,034 being the highest for the visit of Ilkeston. The ground has two seated stands, the larger of which is reserved for season ticket holders, directors and officials while the second seated stand is unreserved. There are also covered and open terraced standing area. Admission is £13 adults, £9 concessions (over 66, students, registered disabled), £5 11-18 and £1 accompanied U11s. Cash payment is accepted at all turnstiles with card payments at turnstiles 1 & 2 which are adjacent to the cricket club. The main carpark is on Netherfield Road and is pay and display which can be paid by card or the Pay by Phone app. Please do not park in Ings Crescent which is a no parking zone. Kick off will be at 3pm.
