THE HOME SIDE
Ashton sit in eighth place in the league table with 25 points from 18 games. They have won seven, drawn four and lost seven scoring 24 goals but conceding 27. At home they have won four games, 1-0 against Stocksbridge Park Steels, 3-1 against FC United, 2-0 versus Hebburn and 3-2 against Morpeth. Their defeats have come against Lancaster City (1-3), Whitby Town (1-4) and Cleethorpes (0-4) with draws against Prescot Cables and Bamber Bridge. The Robins’ leading scorers are Luca Navarro who has nine in all competitions and Jason Gilchrist has five with Enock Lusiama getting four, all in the league. They play in red shirts, white shorts and socks.
THE PITMEN
Away from Keys Park Hednesford have won three, drawn two and lost three games in the league this season and they went to the top of the table last Saturday with 36 points following the 1-0 win over Cleethorpes. They are two points ahead of Warrington Rylands, four ahead of Lancaster City and five in front of Hebburn with all four teams having played 18 games. FC United sit in the final play-off spot with 30 points from 16 games. Joe Doyle-Charles will be unavailable after picking up five yellow cards this season, but Eliott Johnson and Jacob Gwilt made their comebacks from injury in the 2-0 Staffs Senior Cup win at Bilston on Wednesday, Elliott playing for an hour while unfortunately Jacob limped off after half an hour. Defender Alfie White made his debut in the same game after joining on a month’s loan from Wolves.

From their last six games Hednesford have picked up 15 points with a GD of +10 while Ashton have just six with a GD of -6.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS
The Pitmen’s last visit to Hurst Cross was back in 2017 when they came back with all three points, James Lawrie and Sam Oji scoring with Liam Tomsett grabbing a last minute consolation for the home side in front of 154 fans. From seven visits to Ashton, Hednesford have won three, drawn one and lost three, the best result being a 4-3 win in 2006. Goals from Ross Dyer (2) and Darren Alexander gave them a three goal lead which was levelled up by Ciaran Kilheeny (2) and Garry Kharas before Mario Pedro made the game safe for Hednesford.
MATCHDAY DETAILS
Hurst Cross is 2.6 miles from J23 of the M60 and has a capacity of 4,250 with 250 seats and Ashton United have played there since 1878. The main entrances are the turnstiles on Surrey Street and Rowley Street, and the ground has two covered stands, one seated and one standing and is fully terraced on all four with covered standing available in the Johnny Burke Stand at the Lees Road end. There is a small parking area at the Rowley Street end of the ground for officials and parking is mainly on nearby streets. Ashton’s average attendance this season is 361, the best crowd being 1,035 for the visit of FC United.
Turnstile 3 on Surrey Street and The Cross Bar social club open at 12pm with turnstiles 5 and 6 opening at 2pm and admission is £14 adults, £10 over 65 and students age 16-21, £8 for 12-15 and £1 under 12 if accompanied. Concessionary rates will be applied with appropriate proof of ID. Tickets can be bought online via the Ashton website or by cash or card at the turnstiles. Programmes cost £2.50 and are available inside the ground or digitally from the website.
