While Hednesford were progressing to the semi-finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday night courtesy of a 5-2 win over Lye Town, Hebburn’s 3-0 win against Stocksbridge Park Steels saw them leapfrog The Pitmen to the top of the NPL table. Hebburn now have 59 points from 32 games while Hednesford have 57 from 32 although Hebburn have a superior goal difference of seven goals. FC United are in third with 56 points from 31 games. Warrington Rylands and Gainsborough Trinity make up the two remaining play-off places. Saturday throws up a couple of interesting fixtures from a Hednesford point of view with Hebburn entertaining Gainsborough and FC United travelling to sixth placed Stockton Town.

Hednesford have only visited Bamber Bridge once before back in the 2018/19 season on January 26th 2019. The game ended all square at 1-1, Kieron Wells gave The Pitmen a 32nd minute lead before an 88th minute penalty from Ally Waddecar evened things up in front of a crowd of 375.
