THE PITMEN
Hednesford picked up their first point of the season on Tuesday night after a 2-2 home draw against Southport.
However, they will have been disappointed that it was not all three as they conceded two goals in added on time after Dylan Mottley-Henry and Lenni Cirino had scored either side of half-time with Jamie Cooke and Aaron Jarvis hitting the post and bar respectively.
THE OPPOSITION
After a mid table finish last season in 11th place with 65 points from 46 games, The Bucks found themselves losing several influential players in the close season including Dylan Hadley-Allen, Jordan Piggott and James Armson.
However, manager Kevin Wilkin has moved to bolster his squad with the arrival of goalkeeper Lewys Benjamin on a season long loan from Wolves, Jack Lambert from Kings Lynn, Louis Moult from Crewe, and Dion Kelly-Evans and Jaiden White from Chester.
Defender Matt Curley has also joined from Tamworth and will be familiar with the Pitmen faithful as he played for Hednesford from 2017 to 2020 before moving to Buxton.
In their first two league games Telford suffered two 1-2 defeats at home to Brackley and away at Worksop before picking up their first point of the season on Tuesday night at Merthyr Town in a 2-2 draw. Matt Stenson has two of their four goals this season after scoring 17 last season.
Telford are in 20th place in the fledgling league table with one point and a GD of -2.
PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS
Originally known as Wellington Town until 1969 when they were renamed Telford United, the new club AFC Telford United came into being when the previous outfit went into administration in 2004.
Hednesford have visited the New Bucks Head to play the newest version of the club on four occasions, three in the league and once in the FA Cup. The first of these came in 2006/07 and ended goal-less.
There were two games in 2013/14, a 3-5 league defeat and a 3-1 FA Cup win while the last visit there was in 2015/16 when Frank Sinclair’s side won 3-1 thanks to goals from Kyle Perry, Adam Thomas and Tom James.
MATCHDAY DETAILS
The SEAH Stadium or New Bucks Head as it was previously known has a capacity of 6,380 with 2,200 seats and cover for 4,800.
The game will be fully segregated with turnstiles opening at 1.30pm. Hednesford fans have been allocated the Frank Nagington Stand with some seating in Block T of the main stand available on request from a steward on the day.
Away tickets should be purchased in advance here as on-the-day in-person sales will be for home supporters only.
Prices are: Adults £18.50, Concessions £15 (aged 65+), U16 £7. Aged 12 and under £1 (one child for each accompanying paying adult). There is a £1 booking fee for each ticket bought online.
Car parking is available at the SEAH Stadium at £5 per vehicle, pay using the card machines near the ticket office in the main car park (no cash option is available). No additional parking is available at Telford College as it is being resurfaced so if the car park is full please consider parking in Wellington and walking to the ground.
Hednesford supporters will be able to purchase food and drink in the concourse in the away end, but alcohol can only be consumed on the concourse and not within view of the pitch. Card payment only.
Wins Bar is home fans only due to the game being full segregated, so The Swan Hotel on Watling Street has been designated as the pub for away supporters.
