Hednesford Town 0-0 Avro

Fifth placed Hednesford Town were looking for a fourth straight league win against 13th placed Avro at Keys Park. The Pitmen started the game strongly, maintaining the bulk of possession and winning several corners and freekicks. Captain Elliott Johnson played the ball narrowly over the bar in the sixth minute while Dan Trickett-Smith forced a save from Grant Shenton as the Pitmen failed to take advantage of their superior possession. Avro defended well but offered little going forwards as a frustrating half ended with Shenton saving a shot from Manny Duku.

HT 0-0

The second half continued in a similar fashion to the first, lots of energy and attacking intent from the PItmen which generally broke down in the final third of the pitch. Dom McHale was the next Hednesford player to see an effort saved by Shenton. Avro did have the ball in the net in the 59th minute however the linesman had already flagged for offside. Despite a number of substitutions from both sides neither team was able to break the deadlock. A Pitmen corner was headed narrowly wide before McHale saw a shot blocked by Shenton. The Pitmen defence dealt comfortably with any attacking threat from Avro as the game ended in a stalemate.
