On Tuesday 19th August Hednesford Town play their second away game of the season when they make the 80 mile trip to Prescot Cables in the latest round of Northern Premier League Premier Division fixtures.
After winning promotion in 2023/24 through the playoffs Prescot Cables finished in 10th place last season with 62 points from their 42 games. Their highest attendance was 1332 for the visit of FC United of Manchester while the lowest was 398 against Bamber Bridge. This season their opening game against Stockton attracted 670 fans through the gate. In their opening three games of 2025/26 Cables have failed to find the net, drawing 0-0 with Stockton and at Ashton United before losing 0-2 at Ilkeston on Saturday which left them in 16th place in the league table. During the summer they signed midfielder Tom Scully from Leek Town, experienced centre back Michael Grogan, striker James Steele from Widnes and Finlay Cross-Adair following his release from Fleetwood Town.
Hednesford moved to the top of the table following Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Workington which maintained their 100% record. In a game that saw four changes to the starting line-up from Tuesday’s 2-1 win against Warrington Town, goals from Man of the Match Simeon Maye and Jonny Edwards were enough to see off Workington in front of a crowd of 1740.
Ahead of the game manager Gavin Hurren said; “We have had Prescot Cables watched and it will be a tough game, we will have a game plan but we will also have to see who is available due to some niggles and knocks from Saturday’s game.”
Prescot Cables play at The Auto Safety Centre Stadium (off Hope Street), Prescot, Merseyside L34 6HB which has a capacity of 2070. The ground has a stand with bar/function room and a terraced stand at the Hope Street end of the stadium. The other two sides are not built on.
Kick off on Tuesday will be at 7.45pm and admission is £14 adults, £10 concessions (over 65) and £5 juniors (U18). The turnstiles are cash only, no card payments. The club provide a free digital matchday programme called The Walloper which can be downloaded from their website on the day of the game. There are now council restrictions on car parking and the roads immediately surrounding the ground are subject to resident permit holders access only, but parking is available on local council or NCP car parks, the nearest of which is two minutes’ walk away.
The official travel club coach leaves Keys Park at 5.15pm and tickets can be booked via the FanBase app.
