It was a frustrating afternoon on the road for Hednesford Town Ladies, who fell to a narrow 1–0 defeat after a tough, physical battle away from home.
The stats from the game show just how tight and evenly matched it was, but ultimately an easy ball over the top caught us out and they showed that little bit of clinical edge in front of goal. Defensively, we worked hard throughout and limited their chances, but that one moment proved decisive.
In possession, we struggled to create clear-cut opportunities and when we did, we couldn’t quite find the target. Hitting the post summed up our luck on the day, and a few poor refereeing decisions certainly didn’t help our cause. It was a frustrating one all round, but the effort and commitment from the girls can’t be faulted.
We’re still searching for that first three points of the season, but I’ve got no doubt it will come. The squad is gelling, working hard, and once it clicks, we’ll be a real threat.
We’ve got a short break from league action now, but attention turns to cup football. Next up is a tough Challenge Cup tie at home to Wolves this Sunday at Keys Park – a game the girls should go out and enjoy with no pressure or expectations.
Then, on Sunday 26th, we have the chance to make history in the next round of the FA Cup – again at home at Keys Park. We’d love to see as many supporters as possible there to cheer the girls on. Your support makes a huge difference!
