History was made this weekend as Hednesford Town Ladies reached the Second Round Proper of the Women’s FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history — a truly special moment for everyone involved.
From start to finish, the performance was outstanding, and the possession stats back that up. The girls executed our game plan superbly, showing real composure and confidence in possession while creating some fantastic passages of play.
We adopted a slightly different shape, and credit must go to the players for how well they adapted. They bought into the system brilliantly and produced some exceptional football — we really should have had more goals to show for it based on the chances we created.
A special mention must go to two of our youngsters today. They showed maturity beyond their years and slotted seamlessly into the side, which bodes well for the future of the club. Dami Onafowakan, grabbing herself a brace after a strong all-round performance, while Remaya Osbourne was simply sensational — fully deserving of her Player of the Match award.
Despite our dominance, the game wasn’t without its tense moments. The opposition threw everything at us late on and managed to pull one back in the 86th minute, but the girls showed real resilience and character to see the game out and secure the win. They stuck to the task, knew what was at stake, and delivered a piece of club history.
During Monday’s draw, we were handed an away tie against Sporting Khalsa in the Second Round Proper of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. The match will take place on Sunday 23rd November, and we can’t wait for another test on the national stage.
For now, our focus turns back to league action with a tough away trip to title contenders Lye next week. The message to the squad is clear — take the momentum from this historic win and carry it into what will be another challenging fixture.
