I’m really pleased with the Ladies this weekend, who produced a strong second-half performance to secure an impressive 2–0 victory away at Alvechurch FC on Sunday.
The girls gave a really good account of themselves throughout, particularly after the break. The first half proved challenging, with conditions playing their part and making it difficult for us to get the ball down and properly manipulate play. While we worked hard and stayed organised, we knew we could show more.
At half-time, we tweaked a few things and made the approach a little more direct. The adjustment helped the players better understand and execute the game plan, and it paid dividends as we took control of the contest in the second half.
Both goals came courtesy of our 18th birthday girl, Maddie Farley – full credit to her. We’ve been working hard on set pieces over the last few weeks, so it was especially pleasing to see that work come to fruition on the pitch.
Defensively, we looked solid and composed in the second half, limiting the opposition while also playing some excellent football going forward. It was a well-rounded team performance that showed both resilience and quality.
Attention now turns to next week as we host Redditch Borough, who sit near the top of the league. We’ll be looking to maintain our momentum and put in another strong performance to try and secure a positive result at home.
