Hednesford disturb the Bees, Morecambe rally to first victory, Oxford upset by Buxton
Hednesford Town 2-1 Harborough Town
The Pitmen came from behind to end Harborough’s 16 match unbeaten streak to secure their first three points of the season.
Britt Assombalonga gave the Bees something to buzz about just shy of the hour mark when he turned home from a corner. However, late strikes from George Langston and Dave Abimbola ensured that the Pitmen prevailed at Keys Park.
Morecambe 2-1 AFC Telford United
Hednesford weren’t the only side to grab their first win on Friday evening.
Morecambe came into matchday 5 on the foot of the table, but a first half brace from Teddy Collis gave the shrimps all three points at the Halo Aerospace stadium.
Collis netted his first inside three minutes before snapping up his brace in the 45th minute. Louis Moult appeared to give the visitors a lifeline late on but the damage had already been done; leaving Telford as the only side without a win after their 5th game.
Oxford City 2-3 Buxton
A Friday night of firsts also left Oxford tasting defeat for the first time this season.
Sisa Tuntulwana notched his 4th goal of the campaign 11 minutes in before Kieran Burton doubled the visitors’ advantage before the break.
Tyrone Marsh got Oxford back in the game before Tuntulwana restored the Bucks two goal cushion.
Marsh would go on to score again in the 99th minute but it was merely a consolation as Buxton left The Mgroup Stadium with their second victory of the campaign.
Bedford Town 3-1 Spennymoor Town
Bedford climbed six places in the table with a victory over Spennymoor Town at The Eyrie.
Reece Evans put the hosts ahead before Eno Nto increased the deficit. Not long after, a spot kick from George Moncur ensured that Junior Mondal’s late strike was only a slight blemish on a comfortable afternoon for the The Eagles.
Brackley Town P-P South Shields
Storms up and down the country meant that St James Park was met with heavy rainfall on Saturday afternoon.
After just 36 minutes, the referee was forced to abandon the game.
Darlington 1-2 Macclesfield
Macclesfield secured their fourth win in five games after they came from behind to beat Darlington.
Dylan Stephenson put the hosts in with a shout of upsetting The Quakers before Danny Elliott grabbed a brace in the second half to reverse the visitor’s fortunes.
Hebburn Town 4-2 King’s Lynn Town
Newly promoted Hebburn Town continued their impressive start to life in the National League North.
King’s Lynn found themselves ahead at half-time courtesy of goals from Kwame Thomas and Ross Crane either side of a leveller from Jake Charles.
The second period was a one sided affair however as goals from Liam Murray, Ethan Wood and Josh Donaldson meant that The Hornets left with all three points in Tyneside.
Hereford 1-1 Chester
A top-of-the-table clash saw both Hereford and Chester settle for a point at the MandM Edgar Street Stadium.
A pulsating first half saw an effort from Billy Phillips cancelled out by a strike from Billy Waters, ensuring that both sides were forced to settle for a stalemate in Hereford.
Marine 2-0 Radcliffe
Marine looked to have turned a new leaf as The Lilywhites secured their second consecutive victory after losing their opening three games.
George Newell set the hosts off in lightning quick fashion, firing them ahead after just ten seconds.
Just over an hour later, Newell netted his second, rounding off a professional display in Merseyside.
Merthyr Town 1-1 Chorley
Merthyr Town fought back to grab a point at Pennydarren Park against Chorley.
Warren Clarke headed home after 24 minutes to give the visitors the lead. However, Chorley were pegged back just seven minutes from time as Elis Watts curled past Li-Bau Stowell to give the Magpies their sixth point in five games.
Scarborough Athletic 5-1 Southport
The Seadogs leapt out of the gates, giving themselves a three goal cushion before half time through a double from Mo Fadera followed by a finish from Jake Hull on his return from suspension.
It went from bad to worse for Southport as Rio Allan grabbed a brace of his own either side of a consolation from Luke Griffiths.
Frustration boiled over for The Sandgrovers with Luke Burgess the recipient of a late red card, summing up an uninspiring performance for the visitors.
Spalding United 3-1 Worksop Town
Spalding United bounced back from a 1-0 defeat against Chester with a convincing victory over Worksop in Lincolnshire.
A hattrick for Bartosz Cybulski in just under an hour gave the Tigers a lot of work to do.
Despite a strike from Vaughan Redford reducing the deficit, Worksop were dealt their third straight defeat.
