Hednesford Town Ladies returned to Keys Park with determination and a point to prove, facing a side who had snatched a comeback victory against us earlier in the season. That frustration fuelled the squad throughout the week, and with the fantastic Keys Park behind us, the team were intent on putting things right.
Despite several enforced changes due to injuries throughout the squad, the girls started brightly. The first half was an even contest, with neither side truly threatening the opposition goalkeeper. While we struggled at times to take full control—being a little sloppy in moments and unable to fully settle – there were still glimpses of the quality we carried.
The second half, however, told a very different story.
A change in formation, along with the introduction of Maddie Farley, shifted the game firmly in our favour. The team grew in confidence, moved the ball with composure, and began to dominate possession for extended spells. The breakthrough came through Ria Elsmore, who ended her goal drought in style with a superb brace. Both finishes were taken brilliantly, showcasing her quality and giving the girls the cushion they had been pushing for.
With renewed energy, excellent work rate across the pitch, and a disciplined defensive performance, the team saw out the match professionally – earning a well-deserved clean sheet and a satisfying victory we had been waiting for since the reverse fixture.
A break in fixtures gives us time to regroup before a huge test on 14th December as we host Shifnal Town, currently sitting second in the table. It will undoubtedly be a tough challenge, but with recent strong performances and positive results, our Ladies will relish the opportunity.
